Hey world, it’s me! May 23, 2007

Posted by Anya in : I won't keep things purposely vague , trackback

Hello, everybody!

How ought I to introduce myself?

Well, this is the second Calvinist’s Guide to the Galaxy. The first one is here. If I figure out a fairly painless way to transfer posts, I’ll do that. And I ought to warn you, this site is about as random as The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

So.  Now for today.  Mom and I were discussing the War in Iraq.  I think it was because Dad, Abbie and I had watched Tora! Tora! Tora! at our pastor’s house today, and I was thinking about how in WWII people in America actually had to make sacrifices.  Have we had to make ANY sacrifices as a result of the War on Terror?  Sure, it’s on TV and on the news, but you can always close the browser or change the channel.

Maybe that’s part of the reason why Americans don’t seem to care about the war.  It’s not real.  I know that, even for me, it hasn’t really affected me other than insofar as it affects the soldiers whom we pray for.

And do I want to have to make sacrifices?  Of course no, I’m not that insane.  Anyway,  I don’t want to have to give up things… on the face of it.  And that is where counting the cost comes into play.

My final thought on this, for tonight anyway:  I think the war would be more effective if it were actually America against Terrorism instead of part of America’s army against Terrorism.

Somewhat deep thoughts tonight; I assure you that that is more the exception than the rule to my posts.

Gloria a Dios,

Anya

hey there! (is this working??)
we saw ‘tora! tora! tora!’ too. i think we were supposed to watch it for school or something. it was a little confusing at parts, but very enlightening on the whole.
yeah, people in america today aren’t very involved at all in the war on terror. i mean, talk to any of the elderly people who had been in america during one of the previous wars, and they’ll tell you about how they had to give up things they thought they needed, and found out that the troops needed them more! (glass, sugar, rubber, flour, eggs, butter, you name it)
like you said, we can practically ignore this war if we really want to, and that does seem to be the way america’s headed. we can only pray that this war *doesn’t* get serious enough to make us make sacrifices. and while we’re praying, remember to keep the soldiers who are actually out there in our prayers too!
well there. i’ve waxed philosophical. i do tend to do that…once every ten years or so! :P
(i hope it posts this comment right. it’s kind of confusing over here!)

Cool. Though why you need to have 3 blogs I have no idea. :P

And yeah, ditto to what you and Atanvarne said about the war. *nods sagely*
