Yes, another “spontaneous degeneration” type of post. June 2, 2007
Posted by Anya in : spontaneous degeneration , 1 comment so far:-P Deal with it. =) My brain seems to be on the mend (seems to be being the operative phrase there.) The SAT went well, I think, and happily I knew two people there! We even got to sit in the same room! ^_^ So the whole thing was more bearable than I hadst feared.Â
But now for the other part of tonight’s post… on Monday (the loooooong car trip day) we were listening to Derek Webb’s CD She Must and Shall Go Free, which I think is pretty much the best CD I’ve ever owned.Â
Except, perhaps, for track 4… Nothing Without You. If you hadn’t noticed by that point that Derek’s music is a bit influenced by Bob Dylan, it becomes painfully (to the ears) obvious.
What can I say? We (meaning Abbie and myself) were bored. The first verse was supposed to go
i’ve got the dress, i’ve got the ring
i’ve got a song that i can sing
i’ve got the bread, i’ve got the wine
but i’ve got the life i’ve left behind
i’ve got everything, but i’ve got nothing
without you
but instead I changed the first part to
i’ve got the dress, i’ve got the ring
i’ve got a song that i can’t sing –
and then I sang the next part normally:
i’ve got the bread, i’ve got the wine
but i’ve got the life i’ve left behind
Little did I know that the evil side of Abbie’s mind had kicked on full force. She carried on with the song:
i’ve got everything, but i’ve got nothing
that I can sing…
Crazy Brilliant, if I do say so myself. *smiles proudly*
