Let’s Kill Anya Night!!! June 5, 2007
Posted by Anya in : spontaneous degeneration, smiling is good for you, I won't keep things purposely vague , 1 comment so farIt was sorta that kind of a night at Deliverance.Â
Antion tried to kill me with a football. Of course, it’s not as if that’s the first time he’s tried; there have been soccer ball trials as well as running-me-over tries.Â
Then, as Alicia and I finally got back to the dock in our canoe, Sean and Antion tried to drown us by jumping in practically on top of us. Alicia got wet. I got soaked. *glares at guilty parties*
The other attempt to kill me was more subtle, and came from Matt (thank you Matt!) as I tried jumping over an incredibly high thing. He yelled my name. I, obviously, turned around. This led to me not just falling, but falling on my face. Pretty much.
In other news, it was the Southern Pacific Islands night. Mr. U (whose wife grew up in Hawaii) spoke about how a lot of people think that Hawaii is paradise. It’s sunny, it’s beautiful… but when you look more closely at it, it isn’t really that ideal. The beautiful waters are infested with sharks, the people are not welcoming to non-natives, drug use is a major problem, and you’re stuck on this itty-bitty island.Â
Then he broadened his subject from searching for the (non-existant) paradise of Hawaii to how we chase after all sorts of different things which we think will make us happy. We chase relationships, the ideal place to live, the ideal job, possessions — but none of it is what we imagined when we get there. The only thing in life which can truly make us happy and fulfilled is having a relationship with Jesus Christ, because the only true paradise is the one which He has supplied in heaven.Â
P.S.: Da, not wanting to miss out on the fun, decided to shoot me. Fortunately, the gun was virtual.Â
