Craziness on a Wednesday… June 27, 2007

… in other words, youth group was pretty much back to its normal, insane self.

Tonight we were talking about listening to God.  First, we had to talk about just out-and-out listening, as there are some challenges in that group with THAT (and yes, with people other than myself.  :P)  To make his point that you have to be focused on what you’re listening to, Mr. K had everyone get into three groups.  In each group, two different stories were read simultaneously, and everyone else had to try to listen to both.

Well, the readers in my group were Antion and Josh, who happen to be brothers.  Antion is loud.  Not all the time, but he certainly does have the capability.  Josh, on the other hand, is rather quiet.  Furthermore, Antion is generally dramatic, while Josh is… quiet.  :)

Care to guess which story was heard?

Part way through his story, apparently even Josh was having trouble paying attention, as he blurted out, “Oh NO!” *frantic searching for where he was, anyway*  Antion kept getting louder and louder as his story became more and more dramatic.  “Amber, speak to me!  Amber, speak to me!  Please Amber!  Don’t die Amber!!!!!“  He had warned us before he began that it was a sad story.  :(

Mr. K also reminded us that it is not beneficial to listening if we are easily distracted.  You kinda had to wonder (or, perhaps, did not have to wonder at all) when almost everyone in the room — probably 9o% of the people — turned around and looked at the same person.  ^_^  We got Andrew to blush!

Hmm… then after class we played line tag — like basic tag, except everyone had to stay on the lines on the floor in the gym (for basketball and such).  Hence, Matt and my conversation was cut rather short as we were on opposite lines and moving away from each other.  There were the goofy guys in front of me who did not exactly understand the word “Run”.  *glares*

Then we went outside and Heather and I gave those interested, and those unfortunate enough to be within earshot, Greek word roots 101.  Whee.  Oh, that was fun.  We went through agonstic, atheist, and amusement after starting with a cappella.  Apparently, however, we were completely off on what a cappella means.  Oops.  I know that we had the other three correct.  *shrug*  Jenn:  “I feel like I’m back in 11th grade English!”

Mr. K was telling us about two of his rather too-chatty customers… so chatty that they did not notice being put on hold, nor did they ever miss him before he came back.  O_o

Jay and I discussed taking Latin to Life (in Orlando, FL).  He need the help.  All I can say is that classically educated nerds scholars are definitely an odd bunch.  It frightens me that we both thought of it.

Poor Antion.  He asked a question, “Who all here thinks that we’re too rushed?” and was the only one who seemed to agree with himself.  ^_^

This may be my last post for a while, as I’m going to be… other places.  Doing other things.  :)

I just remembered something else.  Me, Emily, Abbie, and Arika were sitting on a couch.  Alicia looked over at us and said, “How many people can you fit on two-person couch?”  We offered to try squeezing her in there, but she declined.Â
