Alex: *pointing at a map on the wall* “Hey, Johnny! Here is where your parents are gonna send you if you’re bad.”

Johnny: *looks at map* “Oh, Hellsville. Teehee, Alex, very funny.”

~~~
Dakota (a little boy who’s about 4): *starts punching me*
me: “DAKOTA! I am NOT Johnny D!” (whom he had been punching)
Dakota: “You’re Johnny Depp!”
He continued to insist on this for quite some time. *sigh*
 ~~~

And Ben W was there!  I haven’t seen him since LIFE, and he is one of the most awesome, most encouraging quizzers around.  Unfortunately, he graduated and I hadn’t seen him for… a while.  :(  But today he came, being on Christmas break and all.  I was delighted.  Anyway, I had to introduce him to Peter.

“Peter,” I said, “this is Ben.  Ben, this is Peter.  He’s on my team.”

Griffin had been standing there, talking with Ben.  “I know Peter!”

I sighed and glared at Griffin.  “I know that you know Peter, you’ve challenged for him –”

Poor Griff.  (Tongue semi in cheek)  He looked sad.  (A little sad.)  “I know,” he said, sounding a bit pathetic.  “I was inserting myself in the conversation” [which I had more or less interrupted him to start] “to try to affirm my sense of self-esteem.”

Ben had no sympathy whatsoever.  He picked up his foot and pointed at the floor.  “Your self-esteem.”  *stomp*  “Squish.”

I did mention that he is a very encouraging person, right?  :)

 ~~~
Griffin was teaching his team how to be friendly.  He led them over to the other teams and started the high-five-I-hope-you-have-a-good-quiz routine, so that they could follow his example.
me:  “Hey, Carson, good to see you!”  (having not seen Carson in three months)
Carson:  “Great to see you too!”  *grin*  *high five*  *walks away with look like Who on earth was THAT?
~~~

*on the way to the quiz*

Alicia:  “WOW!  Look at the sun coming up!  It’s beautiful!  I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before!”

me:  O_o  “Alicia, how about when we’ve gone to DC?”

Alicia:  *looks sheepish*  “I was just talking to people the whole time.  I didn’t watch the sun come up.”

Sad, considering that I’ve watched it with her younger sister Bethany.

Alicia was also trying to get a picture of it with her cellphone, but it couldn’t capture it.  That seemed fitting.  I’d be worried if a cell (HP wants to get typed… the Indonesian abbreviation for the word for cellphone!) could capture all the majesty of a sunrise.
