Okay, so I didn’t say it was many more quotes.
Book review page July 14, 2007
Posted by Anya in : Uncategorized , 2commentsSo… um… I was kind of starved for books after being in Florida for a week with very little to read except David G’s dumb book Evil Genius. :P Having pretty much remedied that, I decided that I may as well start a book review page (clever name, is it not?) so that I don’t keep posting all these reviews (that translates: so that you won’t have to read them, thinking it’s an entry.)
So there we go. Here is a link http://opckid.reformedblogs.com/book-reviews/ until I decide to change my template (I have a really cool new one, but I’m quite fond of this hobbit one, too) and can get links on the page again. Hopefully I’ll be adding more books as I read ‘em.
Enjoy.

Hyarion June 12, 2007
Posted by Anya in : Uncategorized , 2comments*hums to self*
Alright, it is my youngest brother’s turn to be blogged. (What? You say that I’m not doing people in turns? Shhh.)
Hyarion is 9. He has a lot of interests, but I’ll come up with a partial list
~history. He’s NUTS about history.
~music. He’s learning to play piano and has an amazing memory for music. O_o I don’t know how he does it, but he can remember long pieces.
~making noise. (The music category kinda falls under here at times.) He makes noise from the moment he gets up to the time he falls asleep; then he snores.
~knights, armor, vikings, pirates, cowboys, and so forth.
~teasing his sisters. =P
~sports, especially football. He has hyper-analysed Facing the Giants; they should have used him for a director. He loves yelling “HIKE!!!!” and running at us. Or at the couch. Or at the wall. >_<
~being silly. (That would pretty much cover it.)
He has a lovely nose. ^_^ He also has a mohawk at the moment.
Hyarion thinks that my friends are the coolest people on earth. Lucky for them! He also thinks that my stories are as good at J.R.R. Tolkien’s… lucky for me! Talk about a devoted fan!
A few weeks ago at a church lunch I stole a bite of angel food cake from Hyarion.
Mom: “You act like you’re his wife!”
me: *thinks about this* “I’m the closest thing he has.” *grins*
Ah well, as a friend of mine has said… siblings are good for uninhibited flirting. Hey, I can tell him that he is cute as many times as I want to.
Oh my. Did I mention that he is ticklish? Not a bit ticklish. He is suggestibly ticklish. If you start wiggling your fingers near him, he usually starts laughing.
A young lady in our church has decided that she will marry Hyarion. O_o
Hyarion also is very good at coming up with questions. He can and does come up with questions about anything and everything… especially at bedtime.
So that is some idea of my little brother in a nutshell, and now those of you who know him can comment and add what I left out. ^_^

New Music June 7, 2007
Posted by Anya in : Uncategorized , 1 comment so farToday my new CDs came (Newsboys Go and Jars of Clay Good Monsters) and of course, I read all the lyrics to all the songs. ^_^
Analysis on a few Newsboys songs:
Wherever We Go
It sounds like Michael Kelly Blanchard lyrics. “Wherever we go, that’s where the party’s at”, and it also reminds me of their song Shine. Good concept, nonetheless — as believers we have something which the world doesn’t.
Go
Basic mission statement
Something Beautiful
I LOVE this song. It’s actually the reason I bought the CD. They did a great job of coming up with different “beautiful” things: A kiss without any shame, the child on her wedding day, laughing until we cry.
Your Love is Better than Life
I think that they eavesdropped on Antion and my conversations…
I dunno if I ever had an original thought,
maybe not, maybe so, maybe later, I dunno (the answer is apparently no, as they came up with all the same questions as we have)
I dunno how I can end a prayer, then turn on a friend,
I dunno what I was thinking when I just pressed SEND, (*blush* so me…)
I dunno, I dunno, I dunno, but this one thing I know
YOUR LOVE IS BETTER THAN LIFE
Without your love, I’m just a broken machine
YOUR LOVE IS BETTER THAN LIFE
Without your love, it’s all a mindless routine
YOUR LOVE IS BETTER THAN LIFE
Without your love, I’m in another free fall
YOUR LOVE IS BETTER THAN LIFE
Without your love, I’ve got nothing at all
I dunno what goes down the moment we die (or when we go to sleep)
Do we get halos & harps? Do we sleep? Do we fly? I dunno
how, when and why this world will finally end,
Speculation’s gonna grow, who knows best, I dunno
I dunno if I should push ahead or stop and grieve,
I lie awake and wonder how to make a city believe,
I dunno when it’s a ministry and when it’s a show
maybe neither, maybe both, I dunno, but this one thing I know
YOUR LOVE IS BETTER THAN LIFE….
I dunno when to walk away or stand and fight
just when I’ve got it wrong, I’m sure I heard you right
and when my arguments are watertight you expose every hole with a flash and a flood and I know…
Secret Kingdom
A reference to hobbits. Whoa. ^_^
Well, due to being sidetracked, that’s it for tonight. Have a great day (or night, depending on what time you’re reading this!)
Deliverance I June 3, 2007
Posted by Anya in : Uncategorized , 1 comment so farEvery year, my youth group does a week-long thing called Deliverance. It gets pretty… crazy… but they do it partly as an outreach and partly, I think, to burn off the weird ideas they get from being with us all year.
This year, the theme is “Around the World in 5 Days” and tonight was Asia. We had some Asian food for dinner, did several games: picking up peanuts with chopsticks (that I could handle), hackeysack (where my team somehow conspired to all be about as bad as me!), a game called something like Tingaling (which I STANK at, but maybe I’ll practice and sorta get the hang of it…) and Chinese jumprope (which was funky but I wasn’t too good at it… I think I could do it with some practice.)
Then we had our lesson from Mark M, who had just returned from Thailand. He talked about how it’s not just people in America… or in Asia for that matter, who need Christ. That was the serious part. Then he was also telling us about different Asian customs; it got a little… erm… goofy.
You have to understand, it was raining fairly steadily, and we were outside. The porch roof was actually a tarp, and the rain kept pooling on it, and the one of the guys would have to take the broom and push the “roof” up so that the rain would spill off. Well, Mark had been telling us about Thai New Year, which is in April when the weather is about 115 degrees. =P Anyway, people run around drenching each other with buckets of water — even those wearing three-piece suits!! Right after Mark said that, one of the guys went up behind him and knocked all the water off, causing a mini-Niagara Falls!
Mark: *jumps*
everyone else: “Happy New Year!!!”
Also, Mark was telling us about the greetings (in Japan), and how the younger person must bow lower than the older person to show respect. I caught Samwise’s eye and said, “Hey! That means that you…”
Sam began laughing. If we’re going by birthdays, he is younger than me. By about, um, three hours. That’s always good for some fun. ^_^
Let’s see… Anna, our one Chinese girl, was trying to give Greg lessons on how to use chopsticks. It was most amusing to watch, because as a general rule, she doesn’t bother to explain things. She just kept cramming his hand into different positions.
Greg: *as Anna tries to get him to do it again* “I know all this stuff.”
Anna: *gets distracted and looks away*
Greg: *makes face of utter confusion and mouths NOT to me*
Then Anna decided to take a picture of Greg the Master Chopstick User. So he posed with the chopsticks halfway to his mouth and she snapped his picture. When she had finished, Greg, trying to eat his bite of rice, completely dropped it.
=)
